Have you ever been diving in a lake, and someone asks if you can find their anchor for them?  Or someone in your group loses their light, or wrist computer?  During the Search and Recovery specialty, you will learn how to increase your chances of find these things, and then getting them to the surface. 

Overview

This course provides the diver with the skills and knowledge necessary to do those underwater tasks commonly needed by the experienced recreational diver and to minimize the risks of such tasks. You will be able to:
  • use various search patterns, and know when to used each type.
  • calculate how much "lift" is needed to raise an object.
  • rig and lift an object safely.

Program Description

  • Four scuba dives.

Program Steps

  1. Read Search  and Recovery chapter in PADI Adventures in Diving and complete chapter review.
  2. Dives can be done locally or during a scheduled tropical trip.

Prerequisites

  • Age:  Minimum 15 years.
  • Certification:  PADI Advanced Open Water, NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver or equivalent.
  • Previous Dives: The elective search and recovery dive from the PADI or NAUI Advanced Open Water Diver course may be counted toward this specialty.
