Onboard the Truk Odyssey,
Jan 27-Feb 3, Deep-tec Feb 3-10, 2013
The
126' Truk Odyssey has got to be the world's most spacious liveaboard. Six cabins (14'x18') have either one
king or two twin beds, one cabin (10'x9') accommodates either a couple
or two singles, and two cabins (11'x6') are singles. Each cabin has it's
own bathroom, air conditioning, carpeting, porthole or window, and plenty
of storage space..
There is a large
dining area, kitchen, and a separate entertainment lounge. Out on the
dive deck is a three-tier camera table, two camera rinse tanks, equipment
bins under each seat, and an easy entry/exit area.
The diving consists of tropical reefs on top of wrecks and
is done conveniently from the mother boat. The wrecks on the first week are typically 40-130
ft. The deep wrecks on the second week lie between 150' and 180',
where not many divers get to dive. They are worth the extra effort because
they are in better shape. There is less growth on them and less degradation
because the sun's rays cannot penetrate so deep. They also have some neat
stuff on them that is not found on the shallower wrecks.
Special
arrangements have been made to make your deep diving as convenient as
possible aboard the Truk Odyssey. You will be using double aluminum 80
tank systems with dual valve isolation manifolds using DIN or yoke first
stages. Aluminum 30's can carry your 50% mix with you, and there will be
100% oxygen available at the deco bar via long regulator hoses. This
combination enables you to do a reasonably long (35-45 minutes) dives
without having to do ridiculously long decompression. Bill will be able to
train you for extended range & decompression procedures if you aren't
already certified. It is also possible to do the deep dives using a
single steel 112 tank plus a stage bottle, but your bottom time will be
shorter. Two deep and one shallow dive are done
each day.
There is space available. The price will be posted as soon
as it is confirmed. Airfare is not included. Don't miss out! A $100 fully
refundable deposit will hold a bunk for you until we have confirned
pricing. Check out
